Chestertown Teacher/Center Director

Position Overview: The teacher is the lead educator in the classroom and is responsible for curriculum planning, record keeping, report writing, and administering of screenings and assessments.

  • Responsible for planning experiences and activities that are developmentally appropriate, individualized and consistent with designated curriculum.
  • Engages in high quality staff to child interaction and staff to staff interactions
  • Encourages parent participation in all aspects of the program
  • Uses authentic assessment techniques, including anecdotal notes, to plan for individual children

Qualifications: BA in Early Childhood Education or related field and experience working with children from 3 to 5 years of age. $17.21/hr

Center Director/Family Worker for our SUNY Adirondack Location

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood or a related field. A minimum of one year teaching experience and one year of supervising staff

Position Overview: This position is responsible for engaging in mutually respectful goal oriented partnerships with families, to promote parent child relationships and family well-being. Employee will also partner with classroom staff to support and engage families. Employee will also be responsible of ensuring a smooth operation of a center, overseeing day to day operations and staff ratios $17.21 /hr

Assistant Teacher

The Assistant Teacher is a support to the lead Teacher in the classroom. The position requires assisting with planning classroom activities and maintaining documentation. It is expected that the Assistant Teacher work with small groups of children and take over for the teacher on a short-term basis if needed.

Qualifications: Preschool CDA or equivalent or an Associates Degree with experience working with Preschool aged children  Pay: $13.66/hour

Center Cook at SUNY Adirondack

The Cook is responsible for all food service activities regarding children’s meals. Meals are prepared according to the Head Start, USDA and CACFP guidelines.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and valid Driver’s License. Willingness to learn and adopt cooking and cleaning methods required by the Head Start Program. Ability to work with young children and parents. Cooking Experience Preferred  Pay: $13.39/hour

Substitute Classroom Aide 

This would be a per diem job that would assist our agency (6 locations: Glens Falls, Queensbury, SUNY Adirondack, Chestertown, Warrensburg, Lake Luzerne )with staff absences.

A Substitute Classroom Aide is responsible for cleaning and assistance in the classroom. It is expected that the Classroom Aide participate in classroom activities and interact with the children. The Classroom Aide will be responsible for small groups of children throughout the day.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, valid drivers license, and willingness to travel to other Warren County Head Start centers when required. Pay: From $12.66/hour
